"The Right Thing To Do", written by 'lovesbitca8' is Part 1 in the 'Rights and Wrongs' series.
I knew I would love the story as soon as I finished the first chapter. And it only got better. Even though the author wrote a whole of 36 chapters, which is a lot, I just wanted more material to sink my teeth into (in a very non-vampire way). The title itself gives away how meaningful the story will be. I couldn't put my laptop down until I'd read the entire fan fiction. The summary had me smiling because it'd been put together so beautifully that I knew I would've to read the story to completion.
REVIEW (Spoiler Alert): Anyone who reads this story will love the portrayal of Draco and Hermione and their gradual love. This story shows how differently things could've gone after the War for our favourite duo. The characters are perfect for each other in this story as Hermione has been working on her 'Charity Case' since third year, because she chose to read the article of Draco Malfoy's hearing date five times, because her version of professing undying love to Draco is by saying that saving him was the 'right thing' to do, because she can't help but pay attention when he puts his hand on the small of her back and because he asks for his books to be gift wrapped just so that he could spend an extra three minutes with her, because he wanted to rile her up by degrading the 'Undesirable' series which she loves so much just because he thought he'd lost the fiery Hermione he had known all his life...but most of all, it's because this story glorifies the Yule Ball scene between Draco and Hermione in the best possible light. That was the beginning for them, and instead of pulling away, every moment in their life simply brought them closer to one another. He would've saved her just as she chose to save him, and that makes me love them all the more. Lucius in this fan fiction, was just as devious and cunning as I've always thought his to be. Narcissa, though easily loveable, also shows her Slytherin cunning often, which just made me feel like the characters were written appropriately. I loved how great a friend Blaise was to Draco and I loved Hermione's letter to Draco, where she sent 'Golden Girl' as her application. I loved how Ginny left newspaper clippings for Hermione, she is that roommate we all want. I loved the ending to that story, because it shows Hermione's slightly Slytherin streak. And I loved the fact that Hermione had spent too long working without a partner, and now she finally has one, made evident by the last chapter.
Thank you to the author for being so incredibly phenomenal at writing, and for the periodic updates in all her works. If you're done with Part 1, there is a Part 2 with Draco's point of view, and a Part 3 AU on the author's page on fanfiction.net and AO3.
