'Thirteenth Night' by 'Nelpher'
SUMMARY:
When Hermione is assigned to keep tabs on a memory-charmed Draco, she is faced with a decision that could change her life forever.
Despite the association of the name with William Shakespeare's famous comedy 'Twelfth Night', this fanfiction only mentions the work and quotes its lines. It is in no way an adaptation of the original work.
This work has within it: A memory-altered Draco Malfoy, or rather Drake Malford, and his interactions with his social worker, Hermione Granger. When stripped off his pureblood upbringing, Hermione is surprised to find the man he is beneath it. But is it really Draco Malfoy or is it all just an illusion?

REVIEW (Spoiler Alert):
I found the story easy to love from the beginning itself, when Dean Thomas created unoriginal but humorous names for 'the Relocated'. I was very happy to see that despite being thrown into the deep end of the pool (metaphorically), Draco began to bake and follow football. After his initial disscontempt towards Hermione was put aside, I really enjoyed their interaction. Every time Draco did/said something indicating his Wizard status, I was extremely curious to see if the memory-altering spell would fail to work. I could feel his pain with feeling like he did not belong, and wondering why he was mistaking one thing for another. I could feel how not having any concrete memory of his past or his family ultimately traumatised him. All his dreams of flying and nightmares about the day Dumbledore died had the right impact on him, showing the readers just how big a deal the Dark Mark and Voldemort played in his life. The magic in him needed an outlet, and I am glad Hermione showed up at his house in the nick of time to save him. I liked that the author gave Draco and Hermione some time apart so that at least Draco could reconcile with the two lives he has led. After giving Draco strawberry ice-cream for his birthday, I loved that Draco came to realise that the spell never altered who he was at his core. He concluded that he could have loved Hermione as Drake only if he could love her as Draco also. I like the Harry-Hermione friendship in this, and how ultimately even Harry could see that Draco had changed. Finally, the ending where Draco insinuates that he would do this with Hermione 'for the next fifty years' had me smiling like an idiot. This was a lovely story for me to re-read.
