Summary: Hermione Granger is a woman of intelligence and spirit. Draco Malfoy is a man of wealth and privilege. When they meet again, a decade after the second great Wizarding War- they are not impressed. But when circumstances throw them together, dislike turns to attraction, attraction turns to passion and passion may turn into something more... If they can stay out of their own way and let love take its course.
A modern-era Dramione take on Pride and Prejudice.
Rated M (Explicit description of sexual scenes). 38 Chapters.
The story does follow certain elements from 'Pride and Prejudice', but not in a way that dominates the whole story. Readers of the age-old classic will be quick to draw comparisons as and when a situation presents itself, especially in the beginning, but the addition of a modern-era theme sets it apart.
This piece of work is accompanied by two one-shots, which you can find in the author's page on archiveofourown.org. This has been posted as a Dramione recommendation in collaboration with my Instagram account.
REVIEW (Spoiler Alert): I was immediately taken with the idea of a Pride and Prejudice based Dramione story, I mean, who wouldn't? I loved how the story was spun around to make it both follow the P&P outline but also leave a mark of its own. Theodore Nott, is a well-written character. And so is Daphne.
Draco's relationship with his ward, Astoria, struck me as out-of-norm at the beginning as I am used to reading a grown-up Astoria, but this loveable 16/17 year old immediately captured my heart with her association with centaurs, and how strong and mentally mature she is for her age.
I simply love the introduction of uncommon plot lines into this story, like that hint of archery and tennis, fencing and fascination with muggle cars.
Theo's friendship with Hermione was sweet. Astoria and Hermione were wonderful, with their love for music etc. I like the introduction of Charlie and his fiancé, Hamish. Harry, Ginny and Hermione's dynamic was also great to see. Lucretia Black was wonderful and dominated the story in the little while she was there. A wonderful conversationalist, I loved how open-minded she is and what she ultimately did to bring Draco and Hermione together.
Finally, the couple of the story. The characters were easy to love. Hermione's passion for books is known by so many, and every time Draco snorts when this is expressed left me smiling. I wish I could see some of the locations described in the story in person. Draco, creating The Meadow was another great addition to the story and I like how they ultimately got together. Hermione had to learn to trust Draco, and leave behind the person he once was, while Draco had to learn to be just a little more forthcoming with his thoughts. Overall, I really did like this story.
Until next time,
Have a fun read and take care.
